We want to make your experience at Rock Solid Church and learning about Jesus Christ a memorable time. That is why we have put together this simple “faq’s” page to help answer any questions you might have.
Where should I park?
We are blessed to have a beautiful rooms and a large worship center at the Doubletree Hotel & Marina in San Pedro. The facilities are not only incredible but the entire property is peaceful. We call this our “campus” or “meeting place.” The campus has plenty of parking and you can feel free to park anywhere you like. However, we have made an area near the far side of the tennis courts available for parking for those who are coming to Rock Solid Church. This area is very close to the MADEO BANQUET HALL AND ROOMS and is the best place to park with the shortest distance to our worship center. If you come in the main entrance off of Via-Cabrillo Marina Road drive all the way to the end and look for the Rock Solid Signs and 11′ tall flag/banner. You will also see the tennis courts and you can park there to the right. If you miss the main entrance, no worries, simply go around the “circle round about” and pull into the parking lot. You will immediately see the Rock Solid Flag, our church building and the parking right in front of you. We will also have a parking lot attendant available to assist you in finding a parking space if you desire. There is also plenty of parking behind the Madeo Building where we meet nearest the water/harbor.
What time should I be there?
Service starts at 10:30am every Sunday. However, we have a cafe that opens at 10am with free coffee. If you come early you can enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean and harbor and relax a bit before service starts while enjoying a cup of coffee on us. If you have children the Kids Check in is fast but you should leave 5 to 10 minutes the first time you visit to check them in. Also, IF YOU ARE A FIRST TIME GUEST STOP BY THE WELCOME CENTER FOR A FREE GIFT.
How long is the service? What should I wear?
Our services are roughly an hour and a half. We start on time at 10:30am and finish with a final prayer around 12pm. We are a “come as you are” church and “dress up if you desire.” With that said, you can come to church however, you desire. Most people where casuals (jeans, slacks, etc) clothing while a few wear casual dress up. Rest assure that whatever you wear you will see others dressing similar to you. It is interesting to note that we have many who have come out of a lifestyle of drugs and alcohol and are now free while others are business owners, attorneys and city workers.
What type of worship music do we play?
Our worship music is very contemporary with a mixture of some gospel at times. Some of the worship songs are from Christian worship bands such as: United Pursuit Band, Jesus Culture, Hillsongs, Housefires, Alvin Slaughter, Ron Kenoli, Chris Tomlin, Third Day, Gary Oliver, and original songs written by our pastor and worship team. We are always seeking new and fresh songs to help us enter into a time of praise and worship of Jesus Christ.
Is there something for kids ages 2-12? And how do I check my kids in?
We love kids and have some of the best Children’s Pastors in the area. All our kids workers have a background check before working with our kids and receive training. We encourage you to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to service to sign in your kids. You will receive a number that will be associated with your children. You will need to bring that number to pick up your children after service. To get to Kids Church enter the main entrance and go left to the kids check-in station. You can’t miss it. All our kids worship together in their own service during the adult worship time and then break out into their classes. Our rooms are kid friendly and is called “Bibleland.” It is a fun environment and the kids love it. Once a month on communion we invite all the kids and workers into the sanctuary for a corporate time of worship and to partake in communion, with parent permission. We do this to introduce the kids to adult worship and help them assimilate into the youth and adult church services when they come of age. We also have access to the Boys and Girls Scouts Camp which can be seen from the window of our Worship Center (Madeo Room). We use this facility through the year for kids events, Vacation Bible Camp, and more.
Is there something for youth ages 13-18?
Yes! Our youth ministry meets every Tuesday night at The Grinder Restaurant Banquet Room on Harbor and 5th street. They meet from 7pm-8:30pm and have a fun time eating pizza, learning the bible and fellowshipping with other youth. We also train our youth to love church and minister to people on Sundays. On Sunday mornings some of our youth are ushers, greeters, on the setup team, on the worship team and help in various ministries. We also have monthly outings for the youth where they do community outreach, take short trips, have bbq’s and more.
Do you have anything for special needs?
At Rock Solid Church we understand that some kids, youth and adults have special needs. We are currently working on a special needs ministry, however, we do have an area for parents to go “when needed” that is designated for special needs.
Is there a restaurant on the Doubletree church campus?
Yes! As you exit Rock Solid Church (Madeo Banquet Hall) go to your right to the Doubletree restaurant. The restaurant is in the main lobby and has outside seating as well right on the harbor. The food is very good and reasonable. Many of the Rock Solid Church family goes there for fellowship after service. It is open all day on Sundays. You can also walk around the marina after service and take in the ocean air and enjoy the environment. Some people even ride their bikes to church for exercise. If you chose to ride your bike you can lock them up right outside the sanctuary (outside) and see your bikes through the large windows.
Does Rock Solid Church have offices?
Yes. Actually, our offices are the next building over from our Doubletree campus. You might even say it is on the Doubletree Hotel campus. It is that close. The offices are open Tuesday through Friday 10am-5pm.
The address of our offices are:
2500 Via Cabrillo Marina #
San Pedro, CA 90731
Is there security?
Yes! Doubletree has its own security which is nice but they also have a “captain” who is assigned to our church while we are there. The “captain” assures all is going well, helps us with things we need, and is there in case of an emergency. We also have people at our church who are in law enforcement and others who have worked in security. All our team members are trained as well in case of an emergency. We are very blessed however, that the doubletree is a very safe place.
